This is unreal to me. I lived and worked in Nashville, TN, TV news for close to 25 years. I covered every flood, storm and disaster. This however, belongs in a category by itself. This is not an example of a 100-year flood or even a 500-year flood. Nope, this is more like a Noah’s Ark flood.
As I watch this video, it is amazing how areas that NEVER even remotely were affected by flooding before were devastated by this. Some of the affected homes got the worst of it due to inadequate draining which resulted in basements becoming totally flooded. Damaged guttering and blockages can contribute to potential damage to a building’s foundation due to improper drainage. Many homeowners will approach the likes of Clean Pro Gutter Cleaning Nashville in order to mitigate this problem.
I spoken with several friends from Nashville, (I moved back to Oklahoma were I grew up two years ago) and the stories belong in a disaster movie. The kind of movie where a cynical realist like me would laugh at Hollywood’s excesses and say, “It could never get quite THAT bad!”
But it did get that bad and no one is laughing. We can only hope everyone can rebuild with help from their home insurance (click here for advice about that) and that the community won’t have been washed away with the homes and property.
This story has not gotten much play on the news since it is eclipsed by the even worse disaster happening in the Gulf.
So I wanted to post it here.
From a video production standpoint, this is a simple video made from still pictures but it sure packs a punch since most of the pictures are quite dramatic. Especially when you realize how unusual this flooding really is. This is not a case of humans foolishly building too much in a flood-prone area. It’s saddening to see, no wonder families are doing their best to prepare for issues like this, even when they are not prone. Using services like Raleigh roofers, foundation experts, removal specialists, etc. to survey their homes and see what can be changed/added on to make it safe.
This is a case of Mother Nature throwing a hissy fit of massive proportions.
Please support the people of Middle, TN. They are a wonderful, strong, kind and resilient bunch but they’re going to need some support with this one.
