watching tv clip artPeople prefer to watch High Definition (HD), or even Ultra high definition videos due to the clarity and quality the video.

The down side is these videos require huge bandwidth to stream, and they also consume a lot of space on your storage drive. Due to the huge video file size, it becomes quite challenging to share or transfer files onto web, cloud or other platforms or storage devices.

Limitations like lack of time, storage space or bandwidth can restrict you to share your favorite videos.

Compressing the video file to reduce the size is the answer, but it can also severely reduce the quality of the video file.

But compression also allows the video file to be easily shared on PC, Mac, USB drive, mobile devices email, and other web platforms. In the section below let’s understand the video file and how to compress it without losing the original quality.

Understanding the Video file

Before we move on how to compress the video file, it is important to understand the mechanism of what makes a video file smaller or larger. The three main factors which influence the compression level are:

  • Resolution
  • Bitrate
  • Encoding

The resolution of the video is influenced by the number of pixels present in the video. Resolution is usually represented by a horizontal x vertical count of pixels (for example, native HD, also referred to as 1080p, is 1920 x 1080.) The higher these numbers the better the quality and the larger the file size.

How to Compress Video Files without Losing Quality?

There are various approaches you can implement to compress the video file without losing the quality. Video compressor software reduces the file size by changing codec, resolution, bitrate, and so forth.
However, when using such software, it’s recommended to compress video files by maintaining H.264 codec and high bitrate, preferably in MP4 format to have the best output quality. Most video compressing software allows you to specify the codec depending on the compression.

Resolution settings should be compatible to the device or platform on which the video file is being played or shared.

Note – Video compressors software in some cases tends to impact the grain levels, blurriness, and in severe cases may cause video distortion if done improperly. If you encounter such an unforeseen scenario, we recommend you to use Remo Video Repair tool to fix damaged video files.
