GET YOUR VIDEO ON THE WEB
By Lorraine Grula, Internet Video Gal
Dishing the funk without the junk, that’s the motto of www.BoFunk.com, a hip video sharing site aimed primarily at teens.
With that kind of mission, it’s no wonder the site is filled with visual jewels such as close-ups of pimples popping and people eating spiders.
YUCK!!!!!
Is this entertainment?
Far be it from an old geezer like me to judge the viewing habits of today’s teens. (Next time I read a report on falling ACT scores I’ll try not to blame time wasted on giggling over stupid videos on the net.)
Sigh.
If they want to watch two-year-olds biting each other who am I to complain?
Oh, and GUESS WHAT Paris Hilton’s bikini top fell off! Oh, now that video was a hoot.
OK, there is some more meaningful fare on BoFunk too. There is a video about a giant Russian helicopter, but the narration was in Russian so I had a hard time following that one.
Another video featured a computer geek explaining how to protect against hackers, but honestly, that was kind of a snoozer.
Never fear, stuff like “Hot Chick Gets Snake Message,” is just a click away.
On BoFunk.com, the only categories offered are:
- crazy videos
- funny videos
- ridiculous videos,
- nasty videos
- stupid videos
- painful videos. (People being bit by crabs.)
Now we could get into a debate over whether a cat pouncing on a sleeping dog is an awesome video or a crazy video, but I think anyone with brains would conclude that the distinction is minimal.
No categories are available for videos to market your business or products. BoFunk doesn’t want them and neither does their audience.
If you have information teens could benefit from, then a video on the subject could make it on BoFunk. Any commercial message however, would need to be disguised fairly heavily.
Often, online video marketers are instructed to zap their video out to every online sharing site out there. Personally, I do not think that is such a great idea. Bofunk proves my point.
