Get Your Video Seen on You Tube, Lisa Nova Contest

VIDEO CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT

You Tube is the independent video producer’s dream.  Just upload your video and have an instant worldwide audience!

Problem is, You Tube gets 60,000 video uploads a day.   The vast majority of videos on You Tube languish, unseen by hardly anyone.

A handful of people have achieved star status through You Tube, but they are the exception, not the rule.  Is that because their videos are the best?  Not necessarily.  Some of the break away hits on You Tube are positively disgusting.   Two Girls and One Cup? GAG!   If that’s quality video then I’m the Queen of Sheba.

Other You Tube hit videos are much more, shall we say, creative and clever than those two disgusting girls with their one dopey cup.  Thank goodness.  The entire world has not yet gone to hell in that proverbial hand basket.

One of the best things to do in order to get seen on You Tube is participate in the community, make friends, and spread your video around.  No matter how good your video is, if it gets buried at the bottom of the pile it won’t go anywhere.

One of You Tube’s most popular “stars” is a gal named Lisa Nova.  Her channel has nearly 150,000 subscribers. Generally speaking, her stuff is quite clever and well done.  But Lisa herself admits that one of the reasons she is so successful is that she got involved with You Tube early on…when it was much easier to stand out because the crowd wasn’t nearly so big.

Seems the girl has some sympathy for those of us who were not quite so quick to jump on the You Tube bandwagon and she is now holding a contest to find those would-be stars who have been lost in the shuffle.

Entering is easy and free.  Winners will get LOTS of publicity and a few bucks.

All you have to do is go post a video response to her video that explains the contest.  You can find it here. She promises to look at every video and already there are about 1,500.  Hope she is stocked up on popcorn.

You can find a complete list of rules for the contest here.

I entered two very diverse videos.  One was a video tutorial on how to green screen. The other was a crazy alien newscaster poking fun at the recent presidential election.

Wish me luck!  Now, go enter yourself, and I will root for you! Hurry.  The deadline is this Friday, December 19.

I wish I had visited your blog a little earlier. I would have liked to compete in the contest.
Doesn’t it make you wonder why some videos become so popular and they are sometimes horrid!

    Hey Rich.

Well, today is the deadline, so they are probably still taking entries today, but I haven’t actually checked.

YES! I absolutely wonder why some videos are popular. I mean, have you SEEN two girls and one cup? It has millions of views! I guess that is a good one to exemplify the “shock factor.”

Give people the technology for the information super highway and what do they do? Eat poo-poo out of a cup. I really wish intellectualism was valued more, but hey, I’m just a nerd!
