Internet Video - Sharing video on the web
By Internet Video Gal on Jan 13, 2008 in Internet Video Sites, Video Site Review
LiveLeak.com is a video sharing site dedicated to quality video journalism and content of substance. Much of it is political in nature. LiveLeak.com is not full of goofy dog videos and shots of people falling on their butts, or at least not too many of them.
Whether that's good or bad depends on your perspective.
If you're trying to find an audience for your internet video Liveleak.com is a great site but they fiercely defend their right to only accept videos they feel fit with their mission. So if you're too commercial, chances are LiveLeak will reject your video.
A glance at their homepage quickly shows their serious news and political nature. Shows about the war from people who have been there updates on the political elections an explanation of Islam from a practitioner's point of view.
It's not all newsy stuff, there's also a huge selection of hot chick videos and celebrity fare. Gee, I wonder which get more views? who here is pretending to be a serious intellectual?
If you look over their terms of service and requirements, it's clear that they will be quick to label marketing videos as spam. They also claim to have strict standards on gratuitous sex and violence. The submission instructions make it plain that a human will look over each submission and inappropriate submissions and duplicates will be rejected.
Compared to many other video sharing sites, Liveleak.com terms of service are a bit difficult to understand but essentially, they don't want offensive, copyrighted or illegal stuff. No one else does either.
