Cranes - Video Production Equipment
By Internet Video Gal on May 15, 2007 in Video Accessories
Crane shots are gorgeous! With a crane-style camera mount, you can make swooping movements with the camera with the grace of a soaring eagle. Believe it or not, simple cranes are not that expensive. We had one at the high school where I taught that was about ten-feet long.
It was only $150 and worked well for cool shots in the end-zone during football games. Then again, the ones used by high-budget shows cost a bundle. Of course those beauties allow complete remote control of all camera functions and you can spin your view 360°. TV production cranes can tower thirty feet or more, yet within seconds your viewer can be whisked down see the specks on the floor. Talk about creating a visual rush!
If you want such magnificent shots, hire some pros. Call local production crews in your area. Even if they don’t own one, cranes are commonly rented from a professional video equipment supply store.
